Northern Virginia Community College is the largest institution
of higher education in the Commonwealth of Virginia, with six campuses,
three satellite academic centers and an Extended Learning Institute,
serving the residents of the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun,
and Prince William, and the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax,
Manassas Park, and Manassas.

- Dr. Kenneth Rasmussen, professor of geology, was named one of the “2011 Outstanding Faculty Award” winners in Virginia.
- Richard Semmler, associate professor of mathematics, received a Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in Philanthrophy in recognition of his contributions to NOVA.
- Since 2006, five NOVA students have received prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Scholarships which pay up to $30,000 a year to complete an undergraduate degree.
- NOVA partnered with the Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation to develop virtual Internet job training for homebound combat wounded and disabled military veterans.

Development and Continuing Education provides seamless delivery of quality training and services at affordable rates. NOVA delivers custom-designed programs, employs leading-edge technology, and provides practical solutions on campus or at the company’s facilities. As part of its customized training program, the workforce development staff assesses the organizational training needs and proposes specific programs that will help the company’s employees meet their goals to improve quality, customer service, and workplace skills. If specialized training is required, the Workforce Development division can provide curriculum development and instruction, drawing on the expertise of faculty at NOVA and on trainers who work in business and industry.
